I have made a home by two active volcanoes. One of them has erupted in my lifetime, the other has yet to. Volcanoes are ancient guardians of aliveness and primal vitality. They activate a relational reset of reverence with the irrefutable power of the organic.
I have lounged, swam, and basked in the nourishment that comes out of the most catastrophic reimagining of topography. Volcanic explosions are known to create landslides and debris and take out whole cities, but this same destruction has rushed down rivers, creating massive water falls that provide fertile fishing grounds and a prime summer camping spot for me.
In more ways than one, I am drawn to natural eruptions and explosive expressions that cause a beautiful reformation of what is known and established. The essential wisdom of volcanoes teaches us, that even as everything we’ve learned to rely on is breaking down and blowing up, we are gifted a natural process that cleanses, flushes, and awakens us into a more vitally abundant world.
I am at home with the power of nature, resiliently reforming amidst destruction. I have grown comfortable with her method of weaving awakenings, resets, and course corrections. I rest into the inevitable fertility that comes from the most barren of circumstances.
